Sweet Paprika Guacamole With Indian Flatbread Chapatis

I must say I love avocado. It wasn’t always like that though. Few years back I tried avocado and I didn’t like it at all. Little did I know you have to put a little bit of seasoning on it to have a good taste. Now I eat avocado on regular basis. It’s not just tasty, but good for your general health as well (read more of it in the paragraph below).

One of most favorite dishes made with avocado is definitely guacamole. I like how you can make many versions of it. Or just keep it simple and mainstream.

I usually eat guacamole with carrot sticks or sweet potato wedges (you can find the recipe here), but this time I tried something totally different. I found the idea in Indian cuisine and made chapatis. They are like some kind of flat bread. The best part is, they are very easy to make! I made them with spelt flour and seasoned them with garlic powder plus a little bit of salt. And they turned out delicious!

Sweet Paprika Guacamole With Indian Chapatis

Ingredients

  • Large Ripe Avocado
  • 1 Chopped Garlic Clove
  • 1 Chopped Young Onion
  • 1 tbsp Fresh Chopped Parsley
  • 1 tsp Sweet Paprika
  • Pinch of Salt
  • Pinch of Black Pepper
  • Juice of 1 Lime
  • 1 cup Spelt Flour
  • 1/2 cup Water
  • 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
  • Pinch of Salt

Instructions

  1. In a bowl mix mashed avocado, chopped onion, chopped garlic, parsley, sweet paprika, salt and black pepper. If you want your guacamole to be smoother, make sure you chop your parsley, onion and garlic really finely. You also can add more or less sweet paprika, depends on how you like it. Lastly, add juice of a lime and mix well.
  2. Put it in airtight container and store in the fridge.
  3. Mix spelt flour with salt and garlic powder.
  4. Add water, little by little, so you get perfect bread-like dough.
  5. Separate dough in 4 equally sized peaces and form a flat circle.
  6. Bake chapatis in hot pan for about 1 minute on each side.
  7. Cut chapatis (see the picture above) and serve with avocado.
  8. Enjoy.

Notes

You can make chapatis with any kind of flour. Buckwheat flour is pretty good choice too! If you don't like garlic, you can substitute it for any other kind of seasoning (other options: curry, turmeric, chili etc.)
