Best Healthy Homemade Nutella

When we think about Nutella, we are absolutely not thinking about healthy food. What if I told you there is a way you can eat Nutella and not feel guilty about it? This is exactly what this post is all about – making homemade Nutella from scratch. Low in sugar and made with quality ingredients. It seriously tastes way better than the one we can buy in stores. Plus, it is very easy to make.

My favorite way to eat it is on rice cakes (see the picture) or with a spoon right out of a jar. 🙂

Health Benefits:


Any kind of nuts are great source of healthy fat. But hazelnuts have nutritional value of its own. Unlike most other nuts, hazelnuts are a great source of folate. Folate is actually vitamin B9, which is very important for women in their pregnancies, because it supports normal fatal development. It is also great for your heart and lowers the chance of stroke. Eating hazelnuts regularly will promote your normal cholesterol levels. 100 grams of hazelnuts also contains about 15% of daily recommended dose of vitamin E. Hazelnuts are also known to lower the risk of cancer.

So here is how you make your very own Nutella…

Serves: 2 Cups Prep Time: Cooking Time:


  • 2 cups Hazelnuts
  • 3 tsp Cacao Powder
  • 2/3 cup Hazelnut Milk
  • 1 tsp Coconut Oil
  • 2 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 2 tbsp Honey or Maple Syrup
  • 8 Dates
  • pinch of Salt


  1. Preheat oven to 356°F (180°C).
  2. Prepare baking tray with parchment paper, put hazelnuts on it in single layer and roast for about 10 minutes.
  3. Remove baking tray with hazelnuts and let them cool.
  4. Remove the skin (most of it) by rubbing the hazelnuts firmly between your hands.
  5. Put skinless hazelnuts into a food processor for 4-6 minutes, until you get nut butter consistency.
  6. Add the rest of ingredients and blend for additional 2 minutes. At first add half of the milk, then add the rest if necessary.
  7. This is it! Spoon Nutella into a jar or glass container.
  8. Enjoy!
